Question #10
10) Explain what a CBB is.
-Doug Cooper (Technical Director): CBB - Could Be Better: A term used to describe a shot in a film which has something that could use improvement. When a production deadline is tight, instead of fixing every little detail, we record "CBB's" for those problem shots. These fixes are only addressed after all other shots have made it through the pipeline and there is still time to go back and make corrections. This insures that you don't end up having to cut out some shots entirely for the sake of adding some details to another shot. Honestly, it's what we use to placate the director into thinking we'll actually go back and fix that later. :) Unfortunately far more CBB's do not get done than do, but the show must go on, and deadlines in the mirror are closer than they appear.
-Mike Gasaway (Lead Animator ACT II): Someone said that art is never finished, it's walked away from. Or something like that. What this means is that basically, everything is a could-be-better. For me, it would be an opportunity to push the animation even further than it was. For this project, in particular, I would've liked to work more on Slim's attempt at running away from the falling Tubbs. There are a lot of overlapping I would have liked to push more on that...
-Christopher Janney(Scene Planner): The shot is well... "good enough", but if we have some time left we'd fix it.
-Kellie-Bea Rainey (Producer): Could Be Betters (CBBs) were a term we used on the project for aspects that were'nt exactly what we wanted but could live with if we had to. If time alloted we'd go back and update our CBB list. We didn't get all of our CBB list updated for this project but we did do quite a few. I have to give Blake big credit for being the CBB man of the project. He came on the project specifically to help us do some CBBs. We wouldn't have tumbleweeds or some of the impact smoke effects in the show if it weren't for him.
-Patrick Lowery (Lead Aniamtor ACT III): CBB something that is good enough for the first full render, but should be tweaked before the final. Blinks, fingers, facials, all could proabably have been improved.
